University of California - Los Angeles, Northwest Campus Housing Infill
Los Angeles, CA

Completion Date: 2012
Size: 510,000 sf

Following the completion of three new housing buildings totaling 541,000 sf in 2006, designed by Pfeiffer Partners, UCLA is further expanding the student housing opportunities in its Northwest campus. The current project, planned and designed by Pfeiffer Partners in collaboration with both KieranTimberlake Associates and SWA Group, adds 1,525 beds of additional student housing in four new residential buildings, helping to fulfill the University\'s unmet need for on-campus housing. The project includes new dining, meeting and recreation space, as well as a new housing maintenance facility. In addition to the new residence halls, the project develops Sproul Complex, a three-story structure at the base of Sproul South that includes a 750-seat Dining Commons, a 425-seat Multi-Purpose room, a 6,000 sf Fitness Center, and other meeting and catering space totaling 110,000 sf. The new dining, fitness and ballroom space in the Sproul Complex adds much needed meeting/programming space in the Northwest quadrant of the campus. It is intended for use by the on-campus resident population as well as the University\'s summer conference program for lectures, meetings and special events. The 9,750 sf Multi-purpose room is sited to capture campus views and natural light and is divisible into six separate rooms.
