Pfeiffer Partners developed the master plan and design of Florida Gulf Coast University\'s (FGCU) Fine Arts Building II. To be built in three phases, the building provides facilities for both the Bower School of Music and the Visual and Performing Arts Program at the University. Phase I is approximately 24,500 gsf and is focused on spaces for the music program, including a 210-seat recital/choral rehearsal hall, 78-piece orchestra instrument rehearsal hall, a double-height reception/lobby area, a music library, music studios, practice rooms, music classrooms, faculty studios and offices, and instrument storage. Fine Arts Building II is designed for LEED Silver certification and responds to the demands of the Florida climate. The overall master plan creates an identifiable arts precinct, which when complete, will feature the Phase I Music School, a 700-seat concert hall, and a new flexible theater with necessary support spaces such as a scene shop, costume shop and dressing rooms; and a new 1200- to1500-seat multipurpose hall, serving both the University and the surrounding Fort Myers community. The facilities will be organized along a new urban spine with special paving and arcades, connecting the new arts facilities with an existing 600-car parking garage.
