Westmont College, Academic Buildings and Residence Halls

Pfeiffer Partners is assisting Westmont College with several elements of its overall campus master plan: the redevelopment of the Academic Center, involving a variety of academic buildings; a new chapel; and a new residence hall. The 15-acre Academic Center area west of the existing library will absorb planned growth and will eventually house seven new buildings and the expansion and renovation of two others. Programming, planning, and conceptual design have been completed for a new 24,000-sf art center for painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and crafts; a 42,000-sf Academic A Building for psychology, math, physics, and computer science; a Sculpture Studio with indoor and outdoor spaces; an addition to the Whittier Science Building, with new classrooms ranging from 20-100 seats; and a new Central Plant. Programming and concepts were also prepared for a new 1,500-seat chapel to become the spiritual heart of campus and host to performing arts and campus events. Programming is currently underway for a new residence hall for 144 students in double-room and two-bedroom configurations. Design and construction of the Academic Center will commence immediately following pending EIR approval and community review.
