BRIAN NICHOLS, AIA
Brian Nichols has eleven years of experience as a designer, project architect and construction administrator for projects ranging from adaptive reuse to higher education facilities and performing arts centers on both coasts. He has a strong interest in design and sustainability with a particular emphasis on harmonizing these elements. His commitment to sustainability has made him a primary participant in the office's green initiative.
In his work with a design firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Nichols oversaw the adaptive reuse of a U.S. Army WWIIera arsenal, worked on a research and laboratory building for Harvard Medical School, and helped design the Morrison Athletic Center at Noble and Greenough Preparatory School. Since joining Pfeiffer Partners in 2002, he has worked on the $88-million expansion of the Colburn School of Performing Arts and the new Robert M. Hertzberg Library and Academic Resource Center at Los Angeles Valley College, among other projects. Currently, he is the Project Architect for the Westmont College Residence Halls and is working on PACE a 2000-seat, performing arts center in Bellevue, Washington.
Nichols plays an active role in catalyzing creativity in the design process at Pfeiffer Partners and seeks to make strong design a hallmark of his projects. In addition, as someone vitally interested in exploring the possibilities of new technology, he is leading the firm's transition from Autocad to Building Information Modeling (BIM). He hopes to explore the benefits BIM provides, from using energy modeling as part of the early design process to integrated project delivery. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Oklahoma State University. |
